Mercedes Benz in 1992 had aluminum wheels that were polished. Polished wheels of that time were easily tarnished by any chemicals used on them. So, in 27 years the wheels on this MB were very tarnished and had streaks from chemical cleaners. I was unable to clean them up, no matter what I tried to do.
So in early January of 2019, I had the wheels removed and sent off to a specialty company that still had the equipment to polish the wheels. They were not returned until late February. I am very impressed with the new finish. The car has that new car look! The new polish makes the centers (old aluminum finish) look bad. Have to see about replacing them.
Over the years the plastic bumper covers had receive a lot of abuse, resulting in numerous scratches and bobo's. The car was designed for high speed driving, resulting in the front of the car being low. This low profile makes the front bumper cover too low for many stops in parking spaces. Resulting my scratches. We had both the front and rear plastic repainted. They look new this February of 2019.
The windshield was showing it's age and recently developed a crack. I was able to purchase a new window from Mercedes Benz and have it installed. I wanted to keep the replaced parts all Mercedes Benz as much as possible. We believe that using only Mercedes Benz original parts makes the car more valuable for any one who collects vintage cars.

This year we had to replace another wiring harness. This makes 5 harnesses to be replaced over the last 13 years. The brake fluid was replace again as well as the cabin air filter. Both the starter motor and the airmass meter were also placed. One the the good things about having an old Mercedes Benz is that I can still get most parts. The oil was changed and has always been changed with MobileOne high mileage full synthetic along with a new oil filter.
It is running strong and still gives you a very comfortable ride.
The transmission was rebuilt and the engine mounts and other rubber goods replaced, summer 2021. The transmission was removed and trucked to a rebuild shop in California that specialized in Mercedes Benz transmissions. When it was finished (8 weeks later) it was reinstalled with new engine shock absorbers and drive shaft rubber mounts.
While we were at it we also replaced the pumps for soft closers, the seats and door locks.
Feels like a new car!!
